We're very close! Boundless is currently in Beta Testing with a small group of Creative Writers, which is allowing us to iron out any bugs and adjust some of our features. We expect the software to be available early summer.

Yes, absolutely. Once released, Boundless will be free to download. It will default to a 'trial' mode which simply places some restrictions on the amount of content you can generate - but all the features will be fully enabled allowing you get a realistic feel for whether Boundless suits your needs.

Boundless is indeed cross platform, and has been designed from the outset to work seamless in both operating systems. If you purchase a license key for Boundless it will be usable on both Windows and OSX.

It is designed to run on Windows 10, Windows 11 and OSX Monterey. It may not run on older operating systems, but the software is free to download so the easiest way to answer this question is to try it. We highly  recommend you download and run the trial version to ensure it works on your computer before purchasing a license.

Boundless is a piece of software I wrote orignally for myself to fit my style of writing - which is to keep my 'writing space' very seperate from my 'planning space'. This is largely because I get easily distracted, and when I want to focus on writing its crucial that I have a good writing environment that allows me to focus on what is important - my words.

With that said, Boundless allows you to add Character's, Locations and Notes to help you keep track of the key elements in your story and refer to your notes quickly. But it does not have timeline or cork board features.

This can be an incredibly useful feature! Chapters, Characters, Locations and even Notes are considered Entities. Any of these can be tagged with words, and whenever you type that word within your chapter (or character/location/note) it will be highlighted in bold. You can then right click it to jump to that entity, or holding the ALT key allows you to 'preview' that entity. 

A great use case is having a character named 'Angela'. Providing you have wrote some notes about Angela and tagged her entity with her name, you can hold ALT over any occurance of the word 'angela' to see her bio. This is great when wanting to quickly refer to your notes as you type.

You'll never have to pay for minor updates. Therefore bug fixes and small feature additions will always be available to you free of charge. Simply download the latest version of the application and it will continue to work with your pre-existing license key.

As Boundless is an 'offline' piece of software your files are saved where ever you choose to save them. Boundless does not host any files in the cloud, but if you do want to utilise cloud features we recommend iCloud or Dropbox.

You only need an internet connection the very first time you register your software. We utilise Gumtree for our sales system, and therefore the first time you enter your license key it will attempt to connect to gumtree to validate your license. Once you license has been validated Boundless will give you a 'Lifetime Key'. Should you ever need to activate your license again for any reason you should use your Lifetime Key, and that does not require an internet connection.
